THE BORDERS: DRYBURGH ABBEY

Small but really nice, maybe the most beautyful abbey in the area. You can perfectly imagine the live of the monks here, walking trough the ruins of the cloister or the dormitory.

THE BORDERS: BEMERSYDE GARDEN

We want to have this garden!!!!! It was like in a film. A big house with a big grass meadow in front and close to the river. What else do you want????

THE BORDERS: SCOTT'S VIEWPOINT

Ohh!!!! Going by car is wonderful!!! In one day you can reach plenty of places. Here the view of the Tweed Valley between Melrose, Kelso and Jedburgh. You can see the Eildon Hills in the centre. From this point Walter Scott got his inspiration to write his famous novels.

THE BORDERS: SMAILHOLM TOWER

On our way to the next abbey we stopped in this medieval tower, where a rich family used to live in the mmm... (I don't remember the century). Look at the small windows it has, just to prevent the attacks of outsiders, they were clever people. Seeing that the tower wasn't that good we decided to do some foolish things just to enjoy the visit (see Susanna as a Princess).

THE BORDERS: LEADERFOOT VIADUCT

Used to walk a lot, that day we decided to be typical sightseers and stop in every single point going by car. That was a really short pause, in fact, no more than 5 minutes, but the view was worth.

THE BORDERS: MELROSE

Friday morning and Susanna and me went to pick up a hired car for our trip during the weekend. What can we do while we wait for the other people who are still working?? Lets go to the Borders, a region on the south of Scotland where the main attractions are medieval abbeys, similars to those which I can find reading the Pillars of the Earth. First stage, Melrose, a really tiny town with a magnificent ruin.

ON HOLIDAYS

We have started our holidays, at last!!! No more hotel anymore... hehehehe

They prepared us a special lunch, with all the staff of our department and with some presents: the typical card and a souvenir from Scotland ( a figure of the Castle, very useful... and very heavy!
